About Us / A Note From The Chairman

In 1985, in order to expand the operation of Department of Internal Medicine of Kaohsiung Medical University Chung-Ho Memorial Hospital and to carry out integral subdivisions, I decided to establish the first independent Division of Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Medicine in Taiwan, in line with the time when liver disease was epidemic. With our beliefs and wills, we open our mind, striving for research and selfless services.

From time to time, I have been working on the prevention of liver disease and rural service. In 1999, Taiwan Liver Research Foundation was officially established. Curing liver disease was once an unreachable dream, but this dream gradually became practicable. Through screening, health education, from basic preventions to regular follow-ups, liver disease has been gradually controlled.

Since the establishment of Taiwan Liver Research Foundation, we never stop funding the traffic fees for rural residents to travel for treatments. We also help loosen the medical burden of rural residents, raising their willing to see a doctor so that every citizen is able to receive same medical care.

I really appreciate many people’s supports for Taiwan Liver Research Foundation during the past 15 years which have made us mature. We look forward to further advices, and I also hope that all colleagues could keep working hard together, and make the Foundation grow sustainably.
